Providing initial consultation on various aspects of game development which then served as a basis for a structured approach to refactoring aspects of the existing system for greater performance and to add new features.

Engaged to help the company improve its front end and back end systems. The company produces EV chargers and so there were a wide range of systems to interact with primarily using AWS and GCP cloud technologies alongside a React Native mobile application.

Primarily responsible for developing and maintaining the React Native App used by the user to interface with the charging unit. Whilst creating and maintaining features across all services both front and back end and also improving the developer experience bringing the code base up to and exceeding modern standards for software development.

Codices Interactive

Codices Interactive are a UK based company that develop apps for the entertainment/social media industry on both web and mobile platforms. Responsibilities included:
Providing mentoring and leadership to the members of the front-end team. Using React/React Native alongside TypeScript to develop web and mobile applications. Utilising AWS services to build back-end infrastructure. Designing the architecture of complex systems that make use of video streaming.

Responsibilities included:

Develop proprietary technologies to increase the speed of internal production of gaming products using Python
Developing a proprietary JavaScript framework using Pixi.JS and other technologies

Helped ATS (Applicant Tracking System) startup hya to define their visual identity and build their MVP. I built out the design system using Figma, utilising best practices like team libraries, colour and type styles, and auto layout. 

Alongside the design work, I reskinned existing interfaces, working with the CTO to transition the styling approach from Styled Components to TailwindCSS, providing a faster, more consistent application of the new design system.

I also worked with their designer to plan and implement data-heavy features like reporting, and completely rethought and refactored the application's navigation.

Short term hourly contract helping TTO develop their MVP wedding management product. Implemented designs and design system components from Figma.

I introduced the team to compound components in React and advanced Next.js layouts.

Nous

First engineering hire at nous, a startup helping people understand and optimise their cost of living. I helped to ideate and optimise the MVP roadmap, implementing the first pass with the founders and head of design.

I significantly reduced the time to deliver the MVP by introducing no-code tooling.

At BCG Digital Ventures, I helped to design, build, and launch a number of startups for corporate clients. I was a founding engineer on the teams that built multi-million-pound used car marketplace heycar.co.uk and ground-breaking Moroccan loyalty and payments app kenzup.com. 

At DV I also helped build a number of non-public-facing startups, and worked closely with clients, often presenting to their boards.

I worked with TMW Unlimited to build digital experiences, testing concepts using WebGL and cutting edge tech. I also assisted in maintaining the sites and services of their existing digital clients, like McLaren and Barilla.
