• Worked on a customer-facing application to modify a React/Redux micro frontend to meet regulatory changes. This involved the consolidation of requirements, design, prototype and final development of a schema-driven form
solution to capture information from the customer seamlessly within the existing drawdown process. Also modified the back-office service to present the customer responses and audit logging and reporting flow. 

• Working on an internal greenfield application for pension protection information management comprising of a React frontend. Technology choices: React, Vite, React Context, React Router V6, React-Query, React Table and internal HL component library.

Duties include the development/maintenance of security-critical applications used at the ports by UK Border Force. I work daily with multiple professions (interaction/content designers, SME’s, business analysts and sister-project teams) in an agile manner. Applications comprise of React micro-frontends, TypeScript component libraries and Node/Java backends which leverage Amazon Web Services products including S3, RDS and EC2.

Due to my extensive Node.js and React knowledge, I’ve been asked to step in as a senior developer to help steer a struggling development project back on track so it can meet the deliverables.

I built a suite of complex React app integrations for the Contentful editor UI as part of a greenfield real estate data management system. Features include a bespoke Sharepoint DAM browser with SSO authentication, a GraphQL-powered custom dashboard, micro-apps for data management via REST APIs, reusable libraries for logging via async message queues. I also enjoyed acting as mentor to permanent team members.

Working on the front end of the company’s Analytics Platform Environment (APE) application. Implemented a number of features like a transposable table with computed columns from user specified formulas. Proposed a design of a generic tool for in-browser tabular data manipulation and visualization based on the dataflow programming paradigm

Working on the bank’s real-time Forex trading single-page web application as a replacement for their legacy Java based desktop client. Implemented a number of features like simpler trading account selection and more user friendly error handling. Fixed a number of bugs and improved the way tile types were represented in the app state. Improved the way TypeScript was used for better type safety and fewer bugs. Wrote bulletproof unit and end to end tests.

Working on various web applications owned by the department’s Digital team. Introduced and implemented the React/Redux/Redux-Saga architecture to the internal DataHub web application with a collection of low-level components for data management. Achieved a change of testing philosophy from mockist, white-box testing (London school) to top of the pyramid black box testing (Detroit school). Contributed to the department’s various other Python/Django and Node.js codebases. Mentored junior colleagues and civil servants through pair programming sessions and presentations.

Ownership of the responsive real-time single page web application RiskMine — a future-proof alternative to the existing Java based desktop client of the company’s vast high-frequency real time data warehouse. Designed a React/Redux/Redux-Saga based frontend architecture conducive to rapid feature delivery. Implemented the application from scratch as a greenfield project and continued adding features on a very fast pace. Onboarded members of the engineering team to the paradigm and technologies used in the project to prepare them for the project’s ownership take-over by means of code review, pair programming and extensive documentation.

Working on the company’s internal web based tool for reconciliation of loan repayments. During this short period I fixed the application’s outdated CSS layout, made an audit of its biggest UX and technical issues and proposed an improvement to the current architecture, which included decoupling the app’s front-end and the back-end, switching to CSS in JS and using a component based architecture built on top of the Ant Design UX library.

Laid the foundations of the project of rewriting the customer facing application from a Python/Flask based prototype to a stable TypeScript/React/Node based product. Designed a solution and implemented a proof of concept for the problem of delivering a performant live video stream with metadata synchronized to the per-frame accuracy for the sake of rendering interactive bounding boxes of detected objects on top of the video. Implemented a Node.js tool for isomorphic conversion of MP4 files to JSON.

Implemented a number of new features while shrinking the codebase and improved overall performance. Responsible for the customer facing part of the Thomson Reuters' World-Check web application and two other internal applications. Created several advanced interactive data visualisations, like the interactive force-directed graph visualising relationships between World-Check entities.
