- Technical ownership of the technology road map - evaluated and implemented an improved technology stack for the product.

Orcha

Orcha hired me to help them speed up the development of one of their new products. Initially we were to use their existing component library, however we soon discovered it didn’t quite fit one of their requirements, which was to have it work in IE11.

With this in mind, I was tasked with building a new component library from scratch using React, TypeScript, Styled Components and StoryBook to the specified designs. 

After building the library, we used it to rapidly develop the new product as per the requirements.

iVendi

As with my other roles, iVendi brought me on board to assist them in the development of their component library. Using React, TypeScript, Styled Components and StoryBook, we built and maintained a library of reusable components. 

Once developed, we then used this library for the development of an eCommerce website using NextJS, which was essentially a European version of AutoTrader, allowing dealerships to upload and sell their cars via the website. 

We were tasked with taking the designs for the website and building it using the new components that we had recently completed.

Marshmallow

Using React, TypeScript and Storybook, I was brought on board to help Marshmallow finish off a few outstanding areas of their project and get things over the line.

Working across both their customer facing and internal component libraries, I was tasked with updating various components, helping improve some of the user journey and converting and refactoring legacy JSX components to be using TSX instead. 

TLA brought me on board to help with a very short, intense period to develop an MVP. We were tasked with developing a bespoke component library to a set of design and business requirements. 

Once developed, I was tasked with building a wizard that helped users find electric cars suited to their needs. 

To achieve this, I was given a set of designs and a diagram showing the possible paths users could be taken down and was asked to come up with a solution. 

Using our bespoke components TypeScript, Formik and Yup validation, I developed the wizard over a number of weeks, in constant communication with developers and stakeholders to ensure the tool behaved in the way they expected.

Joining part way through the development process, I was hired to help Sorted build out their new management system, using React and Material UI. We were first tasked with finishing their component library, which was then made available as an Azure DevOps artifact and documented with StoryBook.					
Once complete, we then had to pull that library into the new app and begin assembling various views and dashboards that allow customers to access, update and interact with all manner of information relating to their shipments and logistics networks, in some cases handling datasets that contain in excess of 100k+ plus records.

During the process Sorted asked me to help with the hiring process for further contractor resource due to the demand for their product and as such I was involved in reviewing code tests and CVs to help find suitable candidates.			
The project is currently on going with a well-known fashion brand due to start using the platform in the coming weeks.

Allica Bank

I joined the project at a time in which the wireframes, and overall proof of concept, were to enter full development.
I developed tools using Ansible & Terraform to deploy the required components in Microsoft Azure; with an abstract approach to enable tooling to accomodate for additional Cloud Providers as well as environments.
In line with the Center for Information Security benchmarks, I adopted these as the default posture in the deployment and configuration of components.
I developed additional automated tooling to assist various teams in deploying and configuring Linux & Windows applications & services, such as automated processes to create "gold" images based on a teams desired configuration state.
I implemented DevOps processes by way of continuous integration using Gitlab with triggers for each stage of commit flow, such as triggering SonarQube to scan [for quality and security] on demand when changes are pushed.
At the core of the bank is the Identity and Access Management suite, having worked with several banks to implement IAM for specific use-cases [OpenBanking] I offered my advice to architects and senior management, providing technical knowledge for developers to implement as well as describing the processes in a non-technical manner.
I led a separate project to migrate data from Azure LogAnalytics to Elastic, to provide a more robust and scalable solution.

I joined the Open Banking project some weeks after its inception, just as proof of concept work was to begin.
From a technology standpoint, I had input on almost every aspect, as I typically learn very quickly.
Initially I built a fully automated suite of tools to manage the full life-cycle of components in AWS, from the build of a fully configured environment  [including IAM & other ancilliary services] in less than 1 hour to the removal of non-persistent environments to contribute to cost-saving.
The ability to create or rebuild an environment was critical, as all major banks were required to implement the API standards developed by the Open Banking team and thus the environments that I built enabled the banks to conduct testing to validate their implementation.
By having oversight of all technological aspects, and their relationships, I would review major releases and highlight dependent services and the potential risk & mitigation factors.
I worked with many niche technologies, including the automated deployment, configuration and utilisation of the AWS CloudHSM; as well as working in-depth with the Ping Identity suite of  Identity, Access & Governance products.
