PowerBuilder Consultant

The ideal candidate will have five (5) or more years of recent experience with PowerBuilder, three (3) or more years of recent experience developing SQL stored procedures and database schema definitions and providing technical project leadership including development and implementation in these technologies, three (3) or more recent years of experience working with methods and tools used to debug stored procedures with performance issues, and two (2) or more recent years of experience working on writing complex stored procedures, triggers and views in a Sybase/Server environment.
Examples Of Duties:
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
· Partners with Probation Agency resources to identify business needs, research & implement solutions.
· Develops and architects system solutions recommending the appropriate mix of current technologies to customer departments and internal management.
· Serves as lead in performing research, requirements definitions, analysis, development, acquisition, and implementation of hardware, software, and applications systems providing technical leadership for integration of applications with installed agency applications.
· Plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and evaluates the performance of assigned project team members.
· Prepares progress and status reports, systems architecture documentation and white papers for internal management and customer departments.
· Coordinates project development, new systems releases and system maintenance requirements with users, other IT Services staff, vendors and outside agencies partnering with other technical staff to support system integrations; ensures accurate and timely delivery of all project tasks.
· Ensures Service Level Commitments (SLCs) are being met for areas of responsibility.
· May supervise one or more subordinate staff.
· Performs related duties as assigned.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION,TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Extensive experience in computer systems analysis, design, and programming and serving in a technical lead capacity over programming staff and/or programmer analysts which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities also can be obtained by possession of a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and five (5) years of systems analysis, design and programming experience; or, one (1) year of experience as an Information Systems Analyst, or Data Systems Analyst within the County of Ventura, Information Technology Services Department. Additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the college education on a year for year basis.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession or the ability to obtain and maintain a valid California driver license is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
· Five (5) recent years or more of experience working with PowerBuilder including an in-depth understanding of object-oriented programming concepts in a multi-level inheritance environment
· Five (5) recent years or more of experience working with PowerBuilder user objects (both visual and non-visual)
· Three (3) recent years or more of experience working with SQL/Server relational database developer & administrator experience including the ability to write and execute complex queries against multiple tables
· Three (3) recent years or more of experience working with PowerBuilder Development using PowerBuilder Foundation Class Library (PFC)
· Three (3) recent years or more of experience working with methods and tools used to debug stored procedures with performance issues
· Two (2) recent years or more of experience working on writing complex stored procedures, triggers and views in a Sybase/Server environment
DESIRED
Some exposure and training in web application development using such tools as:
· C#+.NET Technology
· Microsoft Visual Studio
· Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
· HTML
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
